What is COSLISC?
WELL, let me tell you! COSLISC stands for College of Science LGBTQ+ Inclusivity in Science Club. We are a brand new club founded by Andres Orio Gonzalez (#thatsourpresident) that aims to promote the LGBTQ+ community within the college of science to create a more supportive and comfortable environment for young, queer scientists . We have several amazing! spectacular! fun! events planned for the rest of the semester as well as general meetings every 4th Wednesday of the month in Gosnell room 2178, starting at 5:30pm. To keep up to date with our events and goals, follow our Instagram at the link below!
Past Events
During orientation week, we held a lemonade fundraiser (pictured up above and to the left) where we sold not one but two flavors, and it was super successful! We now how some funds to put towards future evens we would like to hold like a speaker series of queer scientists, who talk not only about their research, but their experiences in the science field as well as offer potential advice. We also plan on hosting a movie night, creating a mini scholarship, hosting a LGBTStem day in the spring, and advocating for gender neutral bathrooms in Gosnell . So be on the look out for our Instagram posts and future fundraisers to not only support us, but the entire College of Science LGBTQ+ community!
Are you part of the LGBTQ+ community and doing research?
If you answered yes to both of these questions, you would be eligible to be featured in one of our newsletter additions. If you want to talk about your research, highlight your experiences in the College of Science as a queer person, and/or offer areas of improvement, please email us at coslisc.rit@gmail.com and we can set up an interview. We look forward to hearing from you!
